“Volunteers always Welcome to join the Community Projects Committee”
Community Projects are an opportunity for Guild members to give something back to the community. Members and friends of the Brampton Quilters’ Guild make dozens of items for donation each year. Kits are available to members at each General Meeting and at Sewing Days. Members may also choose to make items for donation from their own stash based on the Size Guidelines below.
The Brampton Quilters’ Guild donates the following:
Cuddle Quilts for Peel Children’s Aid & the Salvation Army – Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre
A committee organizes these projects and with the participation of the membership succeeds in donating hundreds of items per year.
Sewing Days provide an opportunity to make quilted items such as placemats, tote bags, memory quilts, lap quilts or cuddle quilts for the community. They are similar to workshops where new pattern ideas are presented or pre-assembled kits are sewn. The difference is that the Community Projects committee provides most of the materials required to work on a featured project.
Sewing Days are a great way for new quilters to learn techniques while sewing items for charities. Experienced quilters enjoy time spent with other quilters. Quilters sew at their own pace completing a project at their convenience. Its an opportunity to quilt with, and for, others. They are held throughout the year with the dates listed at the side of this page.
Sewing Days are also listed on the Schedule page.
Guild members offer workshops to students in Brampton secondary schools. Students are taught quilting techniques by sewing pet mats for pets at the Brampton Animal Shelter. Teachers can request the guild to go to their school by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
