Aims and Objectives of the Guild –
- To encourage an interest in quilting among the members and in the community.
- To increase quilting skills through shared experiences, fellowship and education.
- To benefit organizations, individuals and groups in Brampton through donations of quilts and quilt-related items and other outreach activities.
History of the Guild –The Brampton Quilters’ Guild Inc. was founded by a group of night school students and their teacher. The first meeting was held on September 10, 1987, with fourteen people in attendance. Members meet every month from September to June, and participate in quilt related programmes.
The first project of the Brampton Quilters’ Guild incorporated the Dresden Plate design. This quilt was designated as the Guild’s mascot. It depicts the Guild’s logo, the Dresden Plate, and the Guild’s colours, pink and burgundy.
Monthly Meetings – Fourth Thursday of each month (September to June). Meetings held at:Jim Archdekin Recreation Centre 292 Conestoga Dr, Brampton, ON. Most meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and conclude before 10:00 p.m. Guests are welcome with an admission fee of $7.00, except June which is “Members Only” night.
