The theme for the 2011 Block Contest is “Tropical”. A huge THANK YOU to Northcott Silk Inc. for donating all the fabric for the block kits. The kit contains a fat quarter of a pale mottlled blue for the background and 10″ squares of three tropical colours along with guidelines for creating your block. The more blocks that are completed, the more options we have for putting together our next raffle quilts. A deposit of $10 is required but it is returned once a completed block is submitted.
The block challenge is a great way to show off your skill and creativity without having to complete an entire quilt. Also, prizes will be awarded for the 2011 show favourite.
Last quilt show, 2009, we received more than 30 entries for the contest and almost all of them were used in creating our latest raffle quilt – Celtic Moment – which was completely hand quilted by our members.
