Last month our speaker Heather Steward recommended books. I have purchased them for the library.

2013 Quilt Show Pictures

I will be adding the 2013 Quilt Show Pictures to the Guild’s flickr account over the next few weeks. Bookmark this link and visit it often:

The images on flickr will be watermarked and available at a maximum size of about 1200 pixels on the long side. If you wish to have a DVD with all the images from the show in a large size of up to 5500 pixels on the long side (large enough to see individual stitches in the quilting beautifully sharp when you zoom into 100%) then you will be able to purchase one at the May meeting.

I just happened upon the mention of this DVD series today – Why Quilts Matter : History, Art & Politics – a nine-part documentary series by the Kentucky Quilt Project, Inc. The entire series is available for purchase on the Why Quilts Matter website but you can watch Episode 8 on youtube for free – an entertaining and informative 25 minutes!

Here’s a link to the new books this month. They include books on mixed media, beading, free-motion quilting, dimensional quilting art, using scraps and a pattern book from Piece O’Cake Designs.

There are also two new Fons and Porters, a new Quilters’ Newsletter, a new Quilting Arts and three recent Quilting Arts and three recent McCall’s Quilting magazines.

There are also a new Fons and Porters. I am also adding some donated older Quilters Newsletter magazines which the library doesn’t have and an older Quilter’s Home.

Workshops – update

The Postcard workshop was great fun and I think we will see a lot of completed projects at Show & Tell.

The “Stripping the Beauty” workshop is filling up. I am going to join the class and have started the prep work using these fabrics -

black & white spikes with turquoise lattice and turquoise & green print background
